Independent Survey
Ranks Point2 Technologies Inc. as Canada's Number One Internet
Commerce Company
SASKATOON,
SK - July 11, 2000
Point2 Technologies Inc. emerged
as Canada's hottest online company according to a survey conducted
by Bain & Company and published recently by Canada's daily
national newspaper The Globe & Mail. Bain & Company is one
of the world's leading global strategy consulting firms. Point2
Technologies received the number one ranking for its online
business site, Point2.com.
Point2 specializes in the development of Internet-based inventory
management and marketing tools for manufacturers, dealers,
contractors and buyers of heavy equipment used in the mining,
construction, forestry, oil and gas sectors.
The e25 survey that ranks the top 25 Canadian e-businesses
evaluated 285 Internet-based companies in five areas: strategic
innovation, strategic impact, execution, funding and fame.
Point2 scored the highest mark in strategic innovation with
a near-perfect score of 29 out of 30.
"It's exciting that strategic innovation, strategic impact
and execution were key drivers in getting Point2 the number
one spot," says Wendell Willick, CEO of Point2 Technologies
Inc. "We always focus on optimizing the client experience
by prioritizing functionality and efficiency over bells and
whistles. This win goes a long way to support our strategy."
The Saskatoon-based operation also received 29 out of 30 in
the execution category. The company is credited with having
a string of key partnerships with equipment dealers representing
manufacturers such as Caterpillar Inc, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo,
John Deere and Case Corporation. Clients include: JLG Industries,
Holt Company of Texas, Hoss Equipment and many more. Point2
also scored 25.5 out of 30 in the strategic impact category.
Contributing to Point2 Technologies' winning site are the
company's two patent-pending technologies that enable users
to upload photos hassle-free and conveniently download information
to CD ROMs.
"Point2 has an excellent chance to dominate the global heavy
equipment e-commerce marketplace," says Jon Huggett, Vice-President
of Bain & Company's Canadian branch. "The company established
a strong presence in its niche before the emergence of any
significant competitors."
